Boeshield T-9 was originally developed by Boeing Company to protect aircraft components from corrosion and moisture. Its distinctive formula uses solvents and paraffin wax to:

• Penetrate into tight spaces.

• Loosen dirt and displace moisture.

• Dry to a thin, waxy protective coating rather than remaining oily.

For bicycles, it's commonly used as:

• Chain lubricant – especially in dry to moderately wet conditions, where the wax film helps reduce dirt buildup.

• Rust inhibitor – excellent for protecting steel frames, tools, cables, bolts, and other exposed metal parts.

• General protectant – suitable for derailleurs, pivots, and other metal components that benefit from corrosion protection.

One thing to keep in mind is that because it leaves a wax coating, some riders prefer to reapply it more frequently than wet lubricants in consistently rainy or muddy conditions. For dry-weather riding and long-term rust prevention, however, it has a strong reputation among cyclists and mechanics.
